Top Designers Share Online Shopping Stories at Vogue Night

Australian designers who attended the Vogue Online Shopping Night event at the Sydney Shangri-La Hotel this year shared some of their favourite online shopping stories with one another. Some of these anecdotes included a quest to find a special dress for a beauty pageant, a late night shopping spree for shoes, and sharing the fun of online shopping via Facebook.

According to designer Elke Kramer, online shopping is best done late at night after enjoying some wine. According to Kramer, she sometimes ends up getting packages delivered which she can’t even remember purchasing, like some expensive shoes from Marni. In another tale, designer Leona Edminston was contacted by a contestant in the Miss Teen Iowa pageant, who was looking for a specific dress which was sold out. She found the designer on Facebook and requested outfits for her Miss Teen America campaign.

Designers like Nicky Zimmermann, Fleur Wood and David Bush noted that the convenience of online shopping and 24 hour availability were some of the most attractive things about buying online. According to Bush, the online shopping experience is stress free for him. His first purchase was a Collette dress for his niece. He also said he would be doing his Christmas shopping on the net this year.

Designers like Eva Galambos enjoy shopping online for shoes. Eva admits that she is obsessed with shoes, especially since they don’t focus on shoes at her design studio. Online shopping is perfect for busy working moms like Eva because it offers 24/7 convenience. Other designers like Melanie Greensmith and Akira Isogawa noted that e commerce has benefited their stores because it has brought them more international customers.
