6 Points To Check When Shopping Online

One of the few real difficulties with online shopping is getting further information. In a conventional store it’s easy — you look for a shop assistant who’s not busy, ask them your question and let them do the legwork. Online shopping doesn’t always work like that, so here’s some points to check while shopping online.

6 Points To Check When Shopping Online

Because you aren’t able to speak face to face (other than in one or two very up market stores) you need to make sure you get your questions right. For example, “Are these socks, cotton or nylon,” accompanied by a pointing finger will usually get you the information you want face-to-face in a matter of seconds but online you’ve got to be sure you’ve go all the identifiers for your intended purchase together before you even think about asking.

A basic range of requirements would most often be:

1. Product description

It should be on the web page but if it’s not you need to be sure you include all details. Is it wool or linen or what? Single colour or multiple colours? What size do you need? Are there any special requirements you have or optional extras they offer and you’d like to accept?

2. Price

is it per unit, per pack, or what? Is it in your local currency or do you need to convert it?

3. Payment

What options are offered, which are you planning to use? Are you sure you have funds available in the right place to permit that method to be used? You may have the money in your purse but you may need to pay it into the bank to cover the cheque you’re writing to pay for your order.

4. Delivery

How will the goods be sent and when? Are there alternatives you might prefer? How long, approximately, is delivery likely to take? For example, if you’re a working mum you don’t really want goods to be delivered by a carrier who just leaves the package on your door step each day. What about damage during delivery. How do you report such an event?

5. Return process

Is return accepted? If so, how long do you have to notify the seller and get the goods on their way back?

6. Warranties, etc

Are their any guarantees with the goods? How long do they run for? If you have to claim will you get replacement goods or will you get a moneyback option?

Summary

Only when you’ve gone through this list from beginning to end and made sure you have information about what you’re buying and everything involved in that purchase should you set about completing purchase forms, etc online. Take your time, check each step of the process carefully, perhaps even get another family member to check with you. When you are satisfied make sure you keep your own copies and notes of everything you do and hang on to them in a safe place.

Online shopping can be fun, can be money-saving, can be convenient — but it can also be a trap or a bad experience for the unpracticed shopper. Take enough time to make sure you’re not one of those.
