Buying Fair Trade Coffee Online
Knowing that the coffee you’re drinking has been picked by a bunch of happy & healthy workers is always good to know. We’ve found a certified fair trade dealer that has recently released a new range fair trade coffee.
If you’re not sure what Fair Trade is all about, it’s about fighting poverty and poor health in countries where labour such picking coffee, tea and other food crops has been corrupted by irresponsible companies putting their profits before the health and well being of their workers. Because the populations of these counties is often high, high unemployment rates can cause a company to “believe” the workers are expendable. This in turn results a company to under pay workers and to also negate on safe working conditions of the workers to maximise company profits.
The Fair trade organisation works together with companies by giving the company approval to use the Fair Trade logo in exchange for better work environments for the workers. Better work environments could mean better pay, better work conditions or free medicals.
Oxfam sent me a sample of their new fair trade coffee a few weeks ago, and I’ve managed to be convinced it’s a great brew to the point that it’s now my new coffee brand.
