The Salvation Army Brings Op Shops Online
The Salvation Army better known as The Salvos have brought their popular opportunity shops online. It’s the first charity organisation to launch an online op-shop website in Australia, so I thought I’d take a look at the new way to op-shop for bargains.
As far back as a few weeks ago the The Salvation Army launched their online shopping store, however at the time of launch the Salvos online op-shop didn’t quite pass our ten steps to safe online shopping check list. Today the online store passed the check list, so I’ve decided to tell you about the new online op shop store.
The Salvation Army help protect the environment by recycling your unwanted goods. As a charity they also help out people in times of hardship by donating some of these items. With the opening of their online op shop you can now donate your unwanted goods by filling in the online form to arrange a collection. You can also give them a call for more information about donations on 13 SALV (13 7258). I recommend you contact the Salvos first and make sure your donated goods are acceptable before you arrange a collection via the online form.
As well as donating your unwanted goods to a worthy charity online, you can also shop online at the second hand bargain store. The online store however isn’t as huge as you might think it would be for an organisation as big as The Salvation Army, but I’m sure it’s going to be a big site in future. The shop has a fair selection of categories including Collectables, Health & Beauty products, Women’s Clothing, Jewellery, Men’s Fashion and of course my favorite place in op-shops – Bits & Pieces :)
There’s no doubt if you’re looking for a bargain secondhand item, local op-shops are the best place to start looking, however you won’t see those types of cheap prices online at the salvos web store. Sadly I find the online prices are a little steep for common items like fishing reels for example.
The items with a collectable value are a different category of bargain altogether, and this is where the online op-shop store becomes a great place to do your bargain shopping. If you do see something you like at the Salvos online op-shop before the 19th April 2011, you’ll get free delivery as part of their continuing online store opening celebrations.
So if you’re interested in recycling your unwanted goods to someone who needs it, and supporting your “greater” community contact the Salvos online store and arrange for a pickup. While you’re there check out the online op-shop store and see if there’s something you like as well.
