Time to Start Shopping Online for Christmas
Shopping for Christmas presents can be difficult, but as long as you pace yourself the effort of shopping around is worth it. Today I thought I would tell you how I get my Christmas gift shopping done without the hassle.
My Christmas shopping rush starts early around October and ends on the weekend before Christmas. Shopping for Christmas gifts online is good for cheap prices, but it is also 100% pure gold for gathering gift ideas. You can browse literally millions of gift ideas without leaving your home and even if you don’t end up buying Christmas gifts online, it is without doubt the best place on earth to do your window shopping.
When I look for gift ideas in October, I’m looking for things to suit my family & friends. I also gather a rough idea of prices along the way. So once November comes around, I already have an idea of what to buy each family member, and have bookmarked them in a new bookmark folder called Christmas 2010. It’s important to get organised because once the Christmas shopping hype begins you can easily get distracted by thousands of Christmas advertisers.
The discount, bargain hunting, and price comparing will begin once you have organised yourself with gift ideas. I use Google to search for the products, scan forums for bad named brands, check release dates, and finally use a shopping comparison web site to find the best prices if the product is a popular item.
If you have an online shop to buy some gifts from, buy them mid to late November. December can be extremely busy for online shops and the couriers will also start to slow down with delivery speeds. If you can afford a few extra dollars for a faster courier option towards the end of November, get it. The cheaper courier options will already be getting overloaded and may cause a longer delay then you expect.
When December starts you should be well on the way to getting all your Christmas gifts delivered before the 25th. And for those unexpected guests or the family member that already has everything, try getting a few different gift vouchers from the online shops.
So in short, look for gift ideas in October and make a list. In November stay organised and do the product research, bargain hunting and finally the shopping itself. In December, polish off the shopping spree with a few gift vouchers and write out your gift cards.
Hopefully this post will help you pace out the shopping and gift buying part of Christmas, and leave the rest of the season alone for it’s real purpose. I’ve finished off with a few links to some of my personal favorite online stores. In most cases this list will get all of my Christmas shopping done with ease.
Remember, Start Now, Take Your Time, and Enjoy Shopping!
