TopBuy Get a New WebSite Design

TopBuys latest web design looks good with new category navigation menus placed at the top, and with a bold idea to remove the left and right navigation sides I think online shoppers will enjoy the new design.

The web site was changed on the 11th of September late last week, and the changes are designed to help navigate through over 20,000 products currently available with a much cleaner design. “We would certainly hope customers will like the change, as it is a MUCH cleaner design than before”, said Peter Xie, general manager of TopBuy, and I agree completely when I view the before and after screen shots on the right.

With a minimal approach on the home page, you can see which items are on special, including new arrivals, popular categories, and clearance items. With the main category and sub-category navigation at the top, the web site is much more intuitive and it’s easy to find what you need compared to the previous web site design.

In each category you can select from a left side list of sub-categories and once you’re down to the product list, you get a choice of various, related filters like price, type of product, sizes and more. ie: Digital cameras would show mega pixel size, zoom, LCD screen size, and more

TopBuys New Web Site Design

Personally I like the new design. For me it’s much less clutter to help me read the details easier. A product takes up the entire page, with other product suggestions, must have items, product warranty information and more. TopBuy have a “Questions and Answers” page for each product, however some products don’t have any information, and I thought that there shouldn’t be a Q&A button if there wasn’t information to provide, the blank content looks strange to me.

When I spoke to TopBuy, they also mentioned even more features are due within the next 1 or 2 weeks, such as being able to compare products and product reviews, they have also added social media features.

The best part of the new look is the drop down menu at the top. It makes for a very quick navigation around the store if you’re browsing the site. The previous left side plus and minus buttons to navigate through subcategories was very out dated and the new look should do well with today’s online shoppers.
