Western Digital Opens Australian Online Store

Last week popular data storage vendor Western Digital announced a new online store in Australia, and we've decided to have a look around.

First impressions are often the best, and Western Digital (WD) have done a great job of this. When you take a look at the WD store page, link you're confronted with an easy navigation menu, popular selling products, and a few links for other products like accessories.

Because WD mainly sell computer file storage systems, they don't have a huge category list, just handful of categories based on the type of storage system you need. Picking any of the category links may find yourself seeing double, as the same products appear in other categories. Western Digital also have a range of accessories, including cases, cables and hardware accessories like remote controls for their high definition media devices.

The listing for external hard drive devices is excellent. Scrolling down the page in the desktop external drives section , shows a list of products all lined up for easy comparison. This product list is visible with the entire external drive sub category, and it's perfect for seeing exactly what you need, be it encryption, USB 3.0, or Firewire for a Mac.

The media devices and accessories categories were ok, when you consider WD don't have many entertainment devices or accessories on offer, but there's plenty of information and it's easy to buy in stock items. One downside is that there is no buy button if WD don't have stock of the device.
