Popular Australian Diet Program Gets New Recipe Book
If you've already discovered the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet, you'll be interested to know that there's a new cookbook supplement available.
Announced on A Current Affair yesterday, the new CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet Recipe Book, extends the popular wellbeing diet program, with 130 brand-new recipes.
Developed by Australia's CSIRO (the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), the Total Wellbeing Diet book has sold over 1 million copies since 2005.
One of the books co-authors Dr Manny Noakes says: "The total wellbeing diet has all the components that we would expect collectively would reduce your risks not only of cancer but also of cardiovascular disease and diabetes". However, ACA go on to say that "While many Australians may have found the program successful, it has also attracted criticism, particularly over its portion sizes and high protein content."
Published by Penguin Books Australia, the new collection of recipes in the cookbook aims to inspire Australians who have already used the diet, and introduce newcomers to the popular eating plan.
I looked up the book on the Penguin website, and it's listed in the Quick & Easy Cooking category, with an RRP of $35 (ISBN-13: 9780143203452). A quick search of some popular online booksellers revealed book prices ranging from $27.95 to $31.49, and estimates from 5 days to 2 weeks for shipping.
Firstly, Borders gets a thumbs down for not making the new book available to online shoppers at all! You can buy The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet Recipe Book online at Booktopia for $27.95, The Nile for $28.49, and the ABC Shop for $35.
