Samsung Issues Early Health Warnings for 3D TV

With health problems as little as altered vision, going right up to a possible stroke, Samsung have issued an early health warning about potential health issues when watching 3D TV.

Samsung Issues Early Health Warnings for 3D TV

The Samsung 3D TV Warning details health issues that 3D TVs could cause to some people -- If you experience any of the following symptoms, immediately stop watching 3D pictures and consult a medical specialist: (1) altered vision; (2) lightheadedness; (3) dizziness; (4) involuntary movements such as eye or muscle twitching; (5) confusion; (6) nausea; (7) loss of awareness; (8) convulsions; (9) cramps; and/or (10) disorientation.

Other people not recommended to watch 3D TV include people in bad physical condition, those who suffer from epilepsy or those who are sleep deprived.

I'm not surprised to see a list of health warnings attached to these new 3D TVs. I'm surprised to see such a long list though, including (would you believe) anyone who experiences "altered vision" from watching 3D, the ultimate in new technology for altered vision ;) Viewers under the influence of alcohol are also not immune to the list either, being warned not to watch 3D TV.

Samsung have created quite an encompassing page, leaving very little of a personal 3D TV experience out of the warning. This news also comes not long after online shoppers were introduced to the new 3D LCD TVs in mainstream media, and I guess Samsung are just doing the right thing, to make sure shoppers are aware of the dangers involved with the technology before they buy into it.

This warning won't stop people from buying a 3D TV, unless they already have an existing medical condition. I think it's a bit like a Doctor would say, "anything in moderation". If you get a headache from 3D TV, switch it off for a while.
