Pushing Daisies and iTunes Requests

If you buy movies, music, books, and TV shows online through the iTunes store, you may not be aware that you can submit an iTunes request for items that you can't find.

I'm a big fan of movies and TV shows, and I read Empire magazine every month to read about the latest releases. A few months ago I read a great review of a TV show called Pushing Daisies. It sounded right up my street, because I love quirky and original TV shows like Weeds, Breaking Bad, Dexter, and United States of Tara (I read about all of these shows first in Empire by the way).

I searched iTunes for the Pushing Daisies TV show, but all I could find was the original TV soundtrack. I'm not one to give up that easily though, so I went to the iTunes Requests page and submitted a request for the show.

I've never understood why Apple haven't made the iTunes Requests page easier to find, or accessible from the iTunes store. It would be great if they just added a 'can't find what you're looking for? Submit an iTunes request' link to their search results page -- I've submitted a request about that too!

Unfortunately you don't get a notification when the item you requested is added to the iTunes Store, so you have to remember to check regular, and be patient.

When I checked the yesterday, I was very happy to discover that both seasons of Pushing Daisies were now available to buy in the iTunes Store.

Pushing Daisies, Season 1 ($26.91 for 9 episodes)

Pushing Daisies, Season 2 ($38.87 for 13 episodes)

I still think $2.99 is too much for each TV episode mind you, and I've submitted many requests to iTunes about their pricing. Don't get me wrong, you can get some fantastic deals in iTunes -- I've purchased heaps of music and TV shows that were on special. I believe that Apple would sell a lot more digital media in iTunes, and make more money, if they lowered the prices.

For now I've just purchased the first episode of Pushing Daisies, and I've added both seasons to my iTunes Wish List -- now I've got my fingers crossed that the prices drop, or both seasons go on special.

If you can't find what you're looking for in the iTunes Store, don't give up, just submit an iTunes Request. Think of it like voting for your favourite show, the more requests that are submitted, the more likely you are to see your TV show in iTunes soon.
