Buy Online, Pick Up in Store -- Coles Introduces Click and Collect Service
In March, Coles launched a new "Click and Collect service" in Darwin and Cairns, allowing customers to order online and pickup the order in store, saving time & money for busy online shoppers.
You may have experienced it. Waiting at home for the courier to deliver your new book, or box of groceries? It's hard waiting for the courier when you have errands to run, you ran out of bread, or need to pick up the kids. I work from home, and the whole apartment block I live in knows it! Sometimes, I can get deliveries all day for neighbours that couldn't wait for the courier to turn up leaving notes on the door saying, "pls deliver to Luke up stairs".
This is the reason behind the new Coles service. Online customers wanted a way to pickup the orders rather than have the order delivered, because it's convenient and saves them time. Online shoppers at Coles can select to pick up their shopping as they pass by the store, which also saves money on delivery fees.
Once the order is ready for pickup, customers park in the specially allocated parking bays, press the buzzer and the shopping order is promptly brought out to them by a Coles team member.
The new service is free. Although their plans to extend the Coles service to other states and shopping stores, is still being decided.
"We'd love to extend the service wherever there is a demand for it. But first, we want to see how it goes in both Darwin and Cairns and gauge all customer feedback." - See the Coles Article for more detail.
I'm sure the new Click and Collect service will do well. I can't think of a busy online shopper preferring to wait for the courier, compared to this new way of shopping online at Coles.
