Mothercare Opens in Australia -- Online Store Coming Soon
The world's leading parenting store Mothercare, launched their first Australian retail store on Friday, and they plan to offer online shopping later this year.
The first Mothercare store has just opened in Chadstone VIC, and Mothercare products and prices are now available to view online.
I spoke to Roland Cage this morning, the Digital and Consumer Marketing Director for Mothercare Australia, and he told me that a full transactional online store will be available soon.
You can browse the entire Mothercare product range online right now, including maternity wear, baby & children's clothing, travel & accessories, nursery, feeding, baby care, toys & gifts. Parents can also download helpful advice cards in pdf format, about tried and tested parenting methods.
The next step in the transition towards online shopping for Mothercare, will be a direct phone sales option, where you'll be able to order online, and a Mothercare sales consultant will call for your payment details. A full transactional online store will follow, with payments processed securely online.
I asked Roland about special offers, like free shipping for Mothercare online shoppers, and he couldn't give me any firm details at this stage, although he did say that exclusive member offers are part of the mothercard loyalty program. With the mothercard you can earn 1 reward point for every $1 spent, and then redeem those reward points in-store. Mothercare want to make their special offers more customised and personal, based on your member profile, so make sure you enter the correct details, when you register for the mothercard loyalty program online.
Mothercare aim to provide a one-stop shopping experience, with unique products for Australian parents. Roland made a point of highlighting the new M2b maternity clothing range, and the Mothercare range of pushchairs and highchairs, especially the new Spin Pushchair, which rotates a full 360° for both forward and parent facing positions.
The first Mothercare store opened in the UK in 1961, and they now have retail operations worldwide in over 50 countries. Over 90% of first-time mums visit a Mothercare store in the UK, and with the Mothercare brand already well recognised in Australia, the new Mothercare online store should prove to be very popular indeed.
