30,000 Free e-Books and Cheaper Prices on iPad
I know it could be a while before we see the iBookstore for iPad in Australia, but I'm still very excited to hear that there could be 30,000 free e-books, and cheaper prices similar to Amazon.com.
As soon as the iPad is available for pre-order in the Apple Store Australia, I'm going to place my order online, and if you are too, you'll be interested to know that we could eventually have thousands of free e-books to choose from, and cheaper book prices.
I heard about the cheaper e-book prices first, on The Apple Byte podcast, when the host Brian Tong, announced that the iBookstore appears to be matching prices with Amazon. According to AppAdvice.com, 27 of the 32 books featured in the New York Times bestsellers list were available in the iBookstore for just US$9.99, which is the same price as Kindle bestsellers at Amazon.com.
In an article published in TheAppleBlog, which relates to another piece of news from AppAdvice.com, there will be 30,000 free e-Books available, when the iPad launches in the US later this week. It appears that all these books are currently in the public domain, and already accessible to everyone, but the ability to browse them all in the iBookstore would be much more convenient.
