Cheapest PVR in the Country -- New HD Digital Set Top Box With Digital Video Recorder

Kogan Technologies has just announced Australia's cheapest personal video recorder, available to buy online now for just $99.

Just like TiVo and other digital video recorders, you can access all the new digital TV channels, view an electronic program guide, schedule recordings, pause and rewind live TV, and playback photos, audio, and other video content.

$99 is a very cheap price for a PVR, so I wasn't surprised to discover that it doesn't include any internal hard disk storage, although this isn't necessarily a negative. A PVR like this, that can use multiple external storage devices, actually gives you more flexibility. You can attach flash drives and external hard drives up to 1TB in size, to the USB input on the front of the PVR.

Audio and video output options include HDMI, component, AV, and coaxial digital audio.

This new PVR from Kogan is expected to ship on 10 March, and you can pre-order online right now.
