Compare and Choose a Digital Video Recorder - HDD and DVD TV Recorders
When it comes to recording and playing back TV programs there are a few options to choose from. I've listed six cheap HDD and DVD Recorders (also known as Personal Video Recorders or PVR's) to help you choose the right PVR to suit your budget and requirements.
Basically there are three main types of PVR as follows, DVD Recorders, Hard Drive (HDD) Recorders and DVD plus Hard Drive Recorders. As you can see below the DVD recorders are the cheapest, followed by the HDD recorders and the dual DVD/HDD recorders.
If you're on a tight budget then the DVD recorder will do the job fine, but don't forget you'll need to buy the recordable DVD discs too. At only 4.7GB per DVD you could end up spending a lot on the discs if you're recording a lot of TV. If this is the case then an HDD recorder may be the better way to go, you won't need to spend money on DVD discs and you'll get 80GB or more of storage space. If you like the sound of both options and have a bit more money to spend, you should go for one of the dual 250GB HDD and DVD recorders; ultimately this type of PVR represents the best value for money too. You'll also find it a lot easier managing all your recorded TV shows and movies on one hard drive as opposed to multiple DVD discs.
P.S. The feature-packed Desay 250GB HDD/DVD Combo PVR at the bottom of this shopping update has a Free Shipping promotion and an extra $20 off until 4pm AEST Mon 2 June.
