Pets bring so much joy into our lives so don't forget about them during the festive season. With all the hustle and bustle over Christmas our pets can feel a bit left out, especially dogs and cats.
Here are a few tips to make sure your pets don't get left out this Christmas.
- Most importantly make sure your pets water bowl or bottle is always full of fresh water, and don't forget to feed them! It might be a good idea to invest in an automated water or feed device.
- Take your dog for two walks every day; walkies is the most exciting time of the day for a dog and it's good exercise for you too.
- Wrap up your dogs or cats Xmas present and let them rip off the paper; it helps if there's some special treats inside ;)
- Play hide and seek with your dog (I haven't tried this with a cat but it might work too), my dog Biscuit loves to run around the house trying to figure out where I am. This is a great interactive way to engage your dog and great for kids too. You'll need a nice treat for when your dog finds you of course.
- You can teach an old dog new tricks so take some time out to do just that.
- Give your pet a Kong filled with treats, it'll keep them busy for ages and helps prevent boredom. You can buy Kongs for dogs, cats, birds and even ferrets!
